Coconut Oil Hair Mask, Does It Really Work?
There is no denying the fact that there are over 100 benefits to using coconut oil, but have you tried doing a coconut oil hair mask on your hair? If the answer is no then you are definitely missing out. Coconut oil hair masks are so amazing, but first lets discuss the coconut oil benefits for hair.
Coconut Oil Benefits For Hair
There are lots of coconut oil benefits for hair. It is understandable that everything does not work for everybody, but one fact is that coconut oil is one of the only oils that is actually able to penetrate the hair shaft. What this means is that the coconut oil is not just sitting on top of your hair. Coconut oil is rich in fatty acids like lauric acid and linoleic acid that are actually penetrating and nourishing your hair with vitamins and antioxidants. Coconut oil has natural antibacterial properties which can help against scalp conditions such as dry scalp and dandruff. Having a healthy scalp means a healthy environment for hair to grow and can also stimulate hair growth. It is also known that because coconut oil is able to get into your hair follicles it may help to slow down hair loss.

How To Do A Coconut Hair Mask
Things you will need:
Organic Virgin Coconut Oil
Glass Cup
Bowl
Wide-tooth Comb
Shower Cap
For maximum benefits the best type of coconut oil to use is organic virgin coconut oil. Organic virgin coconut oil is 100% natural meaning it is free of silicones and other chemicals that are not beneficial to the hair. It is best to warm the oil before applying it to your hair. Warm the coconut oil by putting 2-4 tablespoons of coconut oil out of the jar and put it into a glass cup. Place the cup of coconut oil into the bowl of warm water. Once melted, apply the coconut oil all over your hair by massaging it to your scalp and applying it throughout your hair from roots to ends. Next, comb the oil through your hair to distribute it evenly from roots to end. Lastly, put a shower cap over your hair making sure to tuck in your ends. We recommend keeping the coconut oil on your hair for a minimum of 45 minutes to an hour. You could also sleep in the coconut oil hair mask overnight. When you are ready rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water, shampoo, condition, and style as desired. For best results repeat this mask once a month or as you feel your hair needs it.
